Actual Expenses collects information you provide directly: email address, password (hashed), and transaction data you import or connect via Plaid. We do not store your bank credentials. When you link accounts through Plaid, Plaid handles authentication with your financial institution.
2. How We Use Your Data
Your data is used solely to provide the expense tracking and reconciliation features of this application. We do not sell or rent your data to third parties. Transaction data is used to categorize expenses, generate reports, and sync with your linked bank accounts.
3. Data Storage & Security
Data is stored in a secure database with encryption at rest. All communications use HTTPS. We follow industry best practices to protect your information.
4. Data Retention & Deletion
You may request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time via Settings → Delete account. We retain data only as long as necessary to provide the service or as required by law (e.g., tax records).
5. Third Parties
We use Plaid to connect to your financial institutions. Plaid's privacy policy applies to data shared with them. We use Vercel for hosting and Neon for the database. These providers process data on our behalf under their respective privacy terms.
